Our Story

The Aniellos Pizzeria story began in 1972 when Aniello Ruocco moved from Brooklyn to Corning to live with his brother Tony and his family, bringing his recipes for true NY style pizza with him.

With renovations complete at 61 East market street (now Market Street Coffee and Tea), opening day in June was abruptly canceled when Hurricane Agnes flooded the building with 8 ft of water and muck. While this was a huge setback, the family rallied, rebuilt the business and opened in August with Aniello on the register, Gina in the kitchen with her true Neoplitan recipes, and the rest of the Ruocco family - all in matching outfits - manning the counters and making the pies.

A lot has changed over the last 48 years. We’ve  moved across the street to 68-70 East Market Street and we’ve added menu items like fresh salads, speciality pies, calzones and seasonal soups to the menu. But what has not changed is that everything is made from scratch every day, according to the families original recipes. Fresh bread is baked every morning, and Gina, now 93 years old, is there to make sure we get it right.
